We walked by and were drawn in by the amazing smell—had to try it . The salad was fresh and well-balanced, not overdressed. The $10 garlic bread was shareable and came with a tasty green—I believe it was pesto-garlic spread . We missed happy hour, so the skirt steak and fries cost $45—no sharing allowed . Fries were fries. They only serve flank steak. The steak was well-seasoned and came with béarnaise sauce, but it didn’t need it. There are three ways to have it cooked: rare, medium, or well done. I opted for medium. I had a $6 iced tea, not too sweet and really good—but no refills . We also got a bottle of still water for $10. Our server, Hattie, was lovely. I couldn’t finish everything—great portion for someone who usually can't finish their food. I did have to take the rest to go because I filled up on garlic bread and wasn't really super hungry. Definitely give this a try. Even my husband—who doesn’t like anything before I actually liked it—was impressed!
I heard a lot about Skirt Steak and it totally lived up to the hype. Cozy vibes, reasonable price, and super friendly, caring staff. I tried both the wagyu and regular steak—they were both great in their own way. Loved the unlimited fries, grilled zucchini with cheese, and the fun dessert cart with so many options. Drinks were also on point. Definitely worth the visit!
Here’s my honest take. The star of the meal was the key lime pie with whipped cream. I have visited this restaurant multiple times just to buy their desserts. It’s a low key NY hidden gem for the cakes and pies!! Here is where I have to be critical but fair (the overall rating is marked as 4 ⭐s): The steak (medium) had a good crust / char and good beefy flavour (but was slightly under seasoned, we asked for a salt shaker). The Béarnaise sauce was a nice addition but I don’t think it would be needed if the steak was properly seasoned. The garlic bread was delicious and flavourful. The corn on a cob was a nice surprise (both sweet and salty). We only had 1 round of the endless fries we felt they were somewhat stale (a minor complaint given they were endless). Finally, the onions rings could use some work. The batter although crispy lacked seasoning and something seemed to be missing flavour wise. I believe it was a chipotle sauce provided but maybe another sauce would complement the onions rings better. The only reason I was this critical is because I paid roughly $90 per person and believe that the value for what we paid was lacking in a few key aspects. I may return to do a secondary review for their Mon - Wed prix fixe (@$35 this seems to be a better value option).
A few months ago in March, my friends and I were attending a birthday karaoke party and wanted to grab some eats before. We all agreed Skirt Steak. It was a Saturday around 7pm and we had no reservation, so we had about a twenty minute wait. The host was great and suggested since it was only two of us for the moment, we should sit at the bar. We agreed and walked in with ease. Once we got there, we both ordered drinks and waited for our third friend to show. I ordered my favorite, a double shot of house bourbon, and my other friend ordered The Blackberry Spritz Margarita. We settled on the Prix Fixe for $45 that gave us a Prime Skirt Steak and a side of spinach (greens) and french fries. We also ordered Bacon Cheese Fries and Garlic Bread. All in all, it was an amazing meal. So fulfilling that I couldn't even finish. I wish I would have wrapped some food to go, but we had to attend the birthday party afterwards. I am definitely visiting again when I have no other plans so I can enjoy and take some food to go.
If you’re in NYC and want a guaranteed great meal without overthinking the menu, Skirt Steak on 6th Ave is the move. They keep it simple — one cut of steak, done right. The steak comes out tender, flavorful, and consistently on point every single time. Pair it with the crispy fries (yes, they keep those coming) and a salad that’s actually good, and you’re in business. It’s one of those meals that hits every time, whether it’s your first visit or your tenth. What really makes the experience stand out, though, is Savoth, the GM. He’s the guy who makes the room feel warm and elevated without being pretentious. He’s attentive, he remembers people, and he cares about the vibe. You can tell the staff moves with purpose because the leadership is solid. The service here isn’t just good — it’s dialed in. Bottom line: Skirt Steak is a must. Consistent food, great atmosphere, and a GM that runs the place like a master of his craft. Tell Savoth you appreciate how he does things — he deserves the shout. 5/5. Would recommend, would return, already thinking about it again.
Found this great spot. Steak was done perfectly and the flavours were amazing. Endless fries were delicious highly recommend photos do not do this spot the justice it deserves. Try it and thank me later there was no issues with seating and the place is a different vibe for New York. It’s alway great to try something different and this was the spot. If all you need is some steak and frites come here. Enjoy. Like if helpful.
We recently visited Skirt Steak NYC, and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable steakhouse experiences we’ve had in the city. The wait to get in was very reasonable – about 20 minutes (on Friday evening) – and from the very beginning the staff set the tone with their politeness and professionalism. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, and we immediately felt well taken care of. The food deserves a special mention. The steak itself was absolutely delicious – perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. The accompanying dishes were no less impressive: the corn with parmesan was outstanding, rich and savory, while the salad was fresh, well-balanced, and surprisingly tasty for such a simple side. Altogether, the meal felt carefully crafted and satisfying. The beer selection was also excellent, with both the unfiltered light and the dark beer tasting absolutely outstanding. The highlight of the evening was the service. Our server, Tom, stood out for his attentiveness, speed, and truly gallant manner. He made sure everything arrived promptly, checked in at the right moments, and left us with the impression that he genuinely cared about our dining experience. Overall, Skirt Steak is a must-visit if you’re looking for excellent food, great value, and exceptional service in New York City. Highly recommended – and ask for Tom if you get the chance!
